Tautological Thursdays

The number one offense in the NFL faces off against the league’s fourth worst offense in a shockingly exciting Thursday night matchup. Both these teams are missing their top tight end options, and are coming off a win. In terms of DFS strategy, it’s more of an art of trying to cram as many Buccaneers as you can into a roster, without having to play people who will literally never see the field. Although, if you’re the type of person to create 100’s of lineups, it would be correct for some percentage of those to pay down for a $200 player just so that you can increase your star power at the top of your roster.

Hurts is currently the QB7 in fantasy football, five spots below Tom Brady’s lofty standing at QB2. All the same, both quarterbacks are league leading options at the position, ultimately for different reasons. Tom Brady never stops throwing deep balls in games where the time is already two score or more ahead because he’s trying to run up the score to increase his odds at winning MVP. Whereas, Jalen Hurts is forced to create all of the offense for his team and the scrambling that he does when plays break down are extremely valuable for fantasy football. I don’t believe that the Eagles scheme up enough plays for Hurts to fully utilize his athleticism, but as his head coach Nick Sirianni said “Less thinking equals talent takeover.” We should all take this to mean to that his lack of offensive game plan is really just a platform to let talent take over. That’s why I can’t leave Hurts out of my lineup. There’s also a chance that Hurts gets shut down.

For the first lineup, you can’t with the current pricing include either of the current quarterbacks and pair them with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, if any of the were your captain. I thought putting Ertz as the captain was as interesting way to solve that puzzle. Goedert normally sees the lion’s share of the Eagle’s target share on offense, but he’s on the covid-19 list, so Ertz should be able to step in as Hurts’ security blanket.

In the second lineup, I wanted some shares of Leonard Fournette because he’s really been playing well this season. I don’t count on the Buccaneers don’t run the ball to end the game quicker, but Fournette has seen goal line work in nearly every game he’s played so far. Jack Stoll is the TE2, making him a cheap surprise touchdown candidate.

For the third lineup, I broke one of the rules i tried to apply when building lineups, I was trying to avoid having all three of the Bucs WRs. Normally one of them is left out of the end zone on any given week, so I didn’t want to risk taking a $7000 dollar hit for 10 point performance, or worse. Eventually i found it too hard to stop myself from doubling down on the full potential for what Jack Stoll could do for price reduction.
