FanDuel and Factoids + Bonus Lineup for DK
I worked really hard on today’s article, but before we all dive in there’s a message I have to repeat. This isn’t relevant to longtime users, so if you’re anxious to get into the lineups you can skip this part.
I do not currently sell lineups at kicktosscatch. This article series is meant to demonstrate the methodology behind lineup construction. These lineups are made four hours before lock, edited throughout the day, and released an hour beforehand to thousands of people.
Remember most hardcore DFS players release six hundred plus lineups, I release two to three. I consistently guess two of the top five options of each slate, and the proof is on Instagram, but to make money you also need the right combination of players. That’s why you should use this article to help guide your entries, and not just copy and paste it.
I am very competitive, and I want every lineup to win, but I also prioritize you, the user over myself. You have a higher chance to win than I do if you use the article as a guide. You can also join our free discord channel, send in your lineups and I will give you my advice for free. But please don’t try to claim that kicktosscatch is responsible for your losses, because we really aren’t.
I would like to also think about the 99% of people who don’t do this. Almost everyone I talk to is super kind, and I appreciate the opportunity to give advice. My background is in education and organizing, so I feel extremely lucky to be able to connect with people every day through pedagogy.
Lineup 1:
Ja Morant: The Wizards have the 2nd worst defense in the league right now. Morant, Zion, and to a lesser extent Barrett are doing their best to give a great name to last year’s draft class. Morant has lost some of his explosiveness after returning from an eight-week hiatus, and a bad ankle sprain. Since the Wizard’s defense is so bad, this a great chance for Morant to return to early season form. Hopefully, Westbrook is talked with defending Morant. I think Westbrook will be too busy counting to 10 to stop Morant.
Alex Caruso: As my friend, Jackson Hicks says “all the goats are bald”. Caruso has either gotten a hold of Lebrons HGH or Micheal Jordan’s Secret Stuff because he has once again elevated his game. More likely, AD’s absence has given Caruso the opportunity to see more minutes. Not every white athlete is scrappy, but Caruso is one of the scrappiest of them all. He has a Jimmy Butler mindset. He’s also extremely cheap.
Paul George: Boston is a good defense, and low pace matchup. George is also more of a matchup dependent option, being that he tends to produce in the 30 point range against good teams and in the 60 point range against good teams. His pricing reflects the risk of that scoring differential, and I have a lot of confidence in the cheaper options for today.
Devin Booker: Booker has a similar story to George. The Lakers have a really good defense, even without AD. Booker’s pricing is low because he goes hot and cold. Nobody can stop this guy when he is hot though. The Lakers always get everyone’s best shot, and Devin Booker has free reigns to try to shoot them back into the game when they fall behind.
Khris Middleton: I love Middleton, but I can’t explain his inclusion much outside of his role of an insurance policy. The Bucks and Nuggets game seems primed to be one the biggest point totals on the slate, so I want one of either Jokic, Giannis, Middleton, or Murray in every lineup.
Justice Winslow: Winslow could be a flash in the pan like man NBA stars before him. Tonight he is afforded a matchup against the Wizards. The Grizzlies might not win the game tonight, but they should be able to shoot efficiently and play at the speed that they feel comfortable in. If the Wizards do collapse, Winslow’s ceiling rises. I think Winslow, Duncan Robinson, and Nicholas Batum are all great cheap options for the SF position.
Davis Bertans: Sure, Bertans has a tough matchup tonight going against the big bad man in Memphis, but he will 1,000% return his $5,000 investment. This pricing makes no sense to me. Do think Bertans is only $600 better than Winslow?
Daniel Theis: The merry-go-round of big men in Boston has been an important part of the puzzle for DFS lineups this year. I would really emphasize that you should do research on the Celtics rotation, it will help your lineups tremendously.
Nikola Jokic: Your lineup should start and end with Jokic or Giannis. There are zero excuses anymore for leaving these players out of your lineups. The most consistent lineups that I see succeed in the top 100 are artfully crafted “Stars and Scrubs”. That way to succeed today is by cramming as many superstars as you can into one lineup while getting lucky on your lower-priced options.
Lineup 2:
Goran Dragic: Dragic is super underrated right now. Injury and age play their roles in that, but Herro, Robinson, and Dragic all take turns shooting the lights out for the Miami Heat. Atlanta is a good team, but I think they are outmatched against a fully healthy Heat roster. You will be feeling really good at his 5k price tag if he puts up 30+ FanDuel points.
Talen Horten-Tucker: When constructing lineups, and the narratives behind them, it’s important to cover your bases. Somebody outside of Lebron is going to be showing up for the Lakers tonight. I just have absolutely no idea who it is. They have a deep bench and one all-star, making it hard to predict which role player will have the best performance tonight. Horton-Tucker’s arms are also so long, that he looks like a baby Kawhi Leonard out there.
Greg Matthews: This is the riskiest play on the entire lineup. If you’re looking for something to improve for your own roster I would start with Matthews or Winslow. Find a hit or miss option that you truly believe in and surround them with Jokic and Giannis.
