Lineup 1:
Melo is my favorite play on the slate. I’ve been a huge Melo stan for years now. I wore his Vytautas Prienu jersey in the first episode of the kicktosscatch podcast because I was heartbroken that my hometeam Timberwolves passed over Melo. I guess they didn’t want to keep Ball in the family. Sacramento still has the worst defense in the league, and Gordan Hayward is doubtful.
With Hayward being doubtful, it increases the chances that a tertiary option for the Hornets will land in the optimal lineup. It’s an easy-to-follow recipe for success. Someone has to replace Hayward’s scoring and minutes, and that probably won’t be Melo since he’s known more for his playmaking than his shooting.
The Timberwolves’ defense has fallen to the 28th worst since KAT’s return. That stat is more relevant to Booker than it is to Paul. Booker makes the shots, and Paul dishes out the ball. The only team the Wolves can stop is themselves, making Booker my second favorite play on the slate.
Draymond continues to make it into lineups because he has a 40 point floor even without scoring a single point. The Laker’s good defense doesn’t lower Green’s ceiling. If anything, the high-profile game is a boon to Draymond’s competitive attitude. This all leads to him becoming my third favorite play for tonight.
